Position Overview

LVHN is dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable place for our community to overcome life’s challenges. Our team of psychiatrists, psychologists, physician assistants, certified registered nurse practitioners, licensed clinical social workers, psychiatric nurses and occupational therapists work collaboratively to ensure the best outcomes for their patients.

 

In addition to our inpatient behavioral health services at LVH–Muhlenberg, LVH–Schuylkill, and LVH–Pocono, we provide short-term services at LVH­­–Muhlenberg and LVH–Cedar Crest, including individual, couples, family, and group therapy, and when indicated, medication management to children, adolescents, adults and older adults.

 

  • Location: Allentown, PA- LVHN Adult and Pediatric Psychiatry Outpatient Practice across the street from Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest 
  • Schedule:  5 days per week, 8 am – 5 pm, new patient appointments are 60 minutes, follow up appointments are 30 minutes.  7 hours of patient facing in an 8 hour day.
  • Call: One weekend call per month with two give back days.
  • Patient population: children and adults
  • The team is open to experienced APCs and new graduates. New APCs at LVHN rotate on the inpatient unit first to understand their weekend role and then transition to outpatient care. For new graduates out of school, this process takes 2-3 months. New graduates primarily focus on adults. 
  • Problems addressed include:
    • Depression
    • Anxiety
    • Marital and family problems
    • Difficulty coping with physical illness and grief issues

Our clinicians include board-certified child and adolescent and adult psychiatrists, along with psychologists, master’s-level therapists, psychiatric nurses, and other clinicians.

We provide a full continuum of care in behavioral health from emergency evaluation to intensive care, partial hospitalization, outpatient follow-up, homecare and skilled nursing facility consultation. We are growing the Department of Psychiatry which currently comprises more than 40+ Psychiatrists and 120 mental health professionals. In 2019, we enthusiastically welcomed our first class into the Lehigh Valley Psychiatry residency.

Qualifications

  • A network champion for Psychiatry and a passion for the clinical work 
  • Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified
  • A current PA Medical License or ability to obtain one is required
